Registering for the meeting

Attendance at the meeting is by invitation only.  Due to space limitations, not all registrants will be able to attend.  You will be notified as soon as possible regarding your attendance at the meeting.  To register please use the on-line registration form.  To see who has registered up to this point go here.

Getting to the Meeting

Cornell University is located in Ithaca, NY, which is about 4 hours driving time from New York City and Philadelphia, 6 hours driving time from Boston, and 5 hours driving time from Toronto.  We have relatively good air service to our local airport (10 minutes from campus), albeit with only one carrier (US Airways), with non-stop service to hubs in Washington (Dulles), Boston, NY-Laguardia, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh.  The airplane squeamish should be aware that only flights from Pittsburgh to Ithaca are jets (DC-9s).  Flights from Laguardia are reasonably-sized Dash-8 props, and flights from Philadelphia, Boston, and Dulles are on 19-seat Beechcrafts (every seat is both aisle and window!).  Note that international connections through NY-Kennedy or Newark are inconvenient due to lack of service between Ithaca and those points.  Philadelphia is an excellent alternative for international travelers from Europe.  Less convenient (1.25 hours from campus) but with more airline alternatives (United, American, Northwest, Continental) is Syracuse Hancock Airport.  For complete details go to the Cornell-supplied page for travel to Cornell and Ithaca, NY.

Hotel Accommodations

Cornell is unique in having an excellent on-campus Statler Hotel, which is part of our world-famous Hotel School.  Unfortunately, space at the Statler is hard to get and we were not able to reserve rooms there.  We have reserved a block of rooms at two nearby hotels for the meeting.  These hotels are both within moderate (30 minute) walking distance and bus service from them will be provided (parking on campus is very tight).  These hotels are:

Holiday Inn Ithaca
222 South Cayuga Street, Ithaca
Phone: 272-1000, or (800) Holiday

Best Western Univ. Inn
East Hill Plaza, Ithaca
Phone: 272-6100, or (800) 528-1234

When making reservations, you should mention that you are affiliated with the "National Science Foundation Meeting" to receive a special rate.

Cornell also maintains a page a page on Accommodations in and around Ithaca.

Bus Schedules

For a small city, Ithaca has an excellent public transit system (TCAT). Here are maps and schedules for two routes of interest to conference attendees:

Assistance will be available at the meeting for those that want to use public transportation.
